Don’t get me wrong, I know bad beats (or just simple bad luck) happens, more often than any of us would like. But I play in live tourneys all the time, and I am very good at matching odds… when this site says “tag, you’re it”, you might as well sit back and forget about it because the odds are no longer fair and even. Maybe I believe a little too much in statistics, but nevertheless, they’ve always proven correct for me so I’ll continue.

Final table recap of FTOPS event #9 hosted by Gus Hansen
. Allen Cunning hamd was the last pro eliminated but he did make the money. I recorded the final table and you can watch the video on my Full Tilt Poker Blog.

FTOPS is underway again! Watch Gus, Clonie, Eric, and Allen and the rest of the gang as the pros join the ranks of the internet players and stretch out some serious prize money over the following week.

Am I coming to terms with the bad beats on Full Tilt? I can't really tell, but I am winning more often when I recognize a situation where I am going to be sucked out on, and am more apt to get the hell out, even with just more than a few chips left. I layed down AA with a board that had TJ9 T 8 and facing a bet from a reasonably tight player. I felt good about that one becuase I ended up coming back and winning the token. I have a video of this one.

After week off from playing due to a mini-NHL road trip, I came back to try and earn a few tokens. My bankroll is about $1,900 right now, after I withdrew recently, so I really prefer winning the tokens instead of paying the $26 to get in. I know I am cheap.

Checked in while I was Pittsburgh to see a hockey game. My son wanted to play a game so I let him roll with a couple of 2 buck tournaments, after I showed him how to win. he dumped a couple, while I watched the Spizter saga on CNN.

Navigating through the options at Full Tilt Poker.

The main screen at Full Tilt Poker is ingenius in its simplicity and functionality. I challenge you to find a poker site with a more readable, presentable format that smoothly navigates from game types, sub-types, tounaments and cash games. As well, vital information is quick linked to current promotions, cashier and site statistics.

#1 - Game Selection

This upper navigation bar lets you clearly see the game selection available at Full Tilt Poker. Easily navigate from holdem to omaha hi/lo and your other favorites including razz and stud. This is where you will also look up Full Tilt Poker Tournaments including all MTTs, STTs and special events.

#2 - Game Sub-Selector

After you choose from the Game Panel you can specify your search even more by using the columns to rank by stakes, limit type, players at the table and waiting. Also, key indicators like pot size, floppers, and hands/hr. This is a handy place to see if any pros are sitting at the tables as those particular tables will be indicated in red. Always nice to see if Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, or Phil Gordon is in the room!

#3 - Tournament Sub-Selector

When browsing through the tournament selector there are different sub selections to make here that categorize the tournemants more efficiently. There are the regular cash tournaments with ranging entry fees, but also specific listings for special events and private tournaments, as well as WSOP and Aussie qualifiers. Another great feature is the custom edit feature which allows you to search the tournaments the way you want to. You can specify price range, game type, etc.. and they will come up for you automatically. This is really a handy feature that saves time if you often play in a prticular curcuit and search the same specific tourneys all the time.

#4 - Vital Signs

This is a little window into the action of that table or tournament. For cash games it will show the player's handle and their stack - pros are listed in red here too. For tournaments you will quickly see the registrants, start time, and any guaranteed amount. If that tournament interestes you, then just open it in the list panel for all the information about it.

#5 - Pro Tables

These tables are named after some of the pros that either promote the site or play at it under thier real name. The likes of Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson and Erik Seidel, and Allen Cunningham host these tables that seat 9 players but have one specifically reserved for them at all times, so they list only 8 seats. A variety of levels on these tables from Seidel's .50/$1 to David Grey's $50/$100 tables will give you the opportunity to play and chat at all levels.
